Student helper / Project assistant (f/m/d)

A focus of the NeDiT (New Digital Technologies for Biodiversity Data Handling) project is on integrating data, in addition to raising awareness and capacities for exchange of data, building on existing experience. In doing so, the project brings together stakeholders involved in marine biodiversity data handling Furthermore, the project evaluates how new and innovative digital technologies can contribute to advanced integration of data from different sources and their overarching analysis.

Resulting from this partnership project, actors in the region will have an overview on experiences and lessons learned in applying new data technologies in East Africa and beyond. Consequently, capacities for data handling are strengthened and proposals for initiatives to implement new data technologies are developed.

Specifically, the tasks of the student helper will comprise of:

  • Contribute to a biodiversity data handling and analysis tutorial in R (work already started)
  • Co-develop fact sheets on new digital tools for data collection, analysis visualization.
  • Updating the project homepage with project news and documents
  • Feed social media channels with project news

Background of applicants:

  • Experience in programming (R)
  • Experience with Wordpress-based homepage administration
  • Proficient in English

Details of Position: ca. 37 h/month (working hours are flexible) for at least 3 month
