The Leibniz Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN) based in Dummerstorf near Rostock, Germany, is a foundation under public law and a member of the Leibniz-Association. The scope of the institute with about 300 employees is fundamental and applied research in the area of farm animal biology.

PostDoc Position (m/f/d)
for 36 months starting at 1st of November 2020.

The task is to investigate the impact of alternative feed sources on energy metabolism of dairy cows with particular focus on methane, nitrogen and phosphorous emissions and between-animal variations. The work includes feeding experiments with and samplings from dairy cows, the analysis of molecular changes, statistical evaluation and publication of results.
We are looking for a research associate with a PhD in animal sciences or veterinary sciences. The appointee should have a strong background in ruminant nutritional physiology and intermediary metabolism and experienced in performing in vivo experiments with cattle. The appointee is further expected to have technical experience in the analysis of body fluids and tissues using gas and liquid chromatography or real-time RT-PCR. First experiences in writing publications and research proposals are highly desirable. The secure use of statistical software tools, i.e. JMP, R or SAS is required. A FELASA certificate and international experiences are an advantage. Working languages are English and German.
