The Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften - ISAS - e.V. is a research institute dedicated to the development and improvement of analytical methods and tools for health research and related fields. Post-doctoral position / Scientist (m/f/d)

in Bioinformatics

The availability of well-adapted bioinformatics tools, appropriate hardware and well-maintained databases is a fundamental prerequisite for the valid exploitation of these large volumes of data in all areas of life sciences.

The ISAS takes care of this challenge in the area of mass spectrometry (MS)-based OMICS data analysis, integration of different data types and evaluation of large datasets. Furthermore, the ISAS develops and improves a repertoire of specialized bioinformatics tools.

Social skills, the capacity to work in multidisciplinary teams and applying for third party research funds are prerequisites.

You will be responsible for:

  • Continuous development of bioinformatic services for OMICS technologies
  • Analysis of complex OMICS datasets
  • Expand, enhance and ensure the sustainability of the data
  • Development of analysis tools and user interfaces for simplified analysis of
    existing MS data sets
  • Infrastructure such as database administration and search engine support and optimization
  • Integration of tools for quality control of OMICS datasets
  • Generation and maintenance of database systems
  • Standardization, extension and maintenance of existing workflow / data workflows

Your profile:

  • Master or PhD in Bioinformatics, statistics or similar
  • Strong background and interest in the field of computer science or bioinformatics
  • Solid knowledge in C/C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, R, C# or similar programming/scripting languages
  • Experience with analysis of MS data
  • Knowledge of quantitative OMICS experiments
  • Knowledge in the field of statistics
  • Basic knowledge of biology, biochemistry and chemistry
  • English is required, German is an advantage

The salary will be according to the German TV-L. The full-time position is available immediately and offered for three years. The time limitation of the contract is based on the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG). The position is generally suitable for part-time.
